Logo placement on shirts: where the design earns its keep
📍 4 min readUpdated 2026-02
The placements, ranked for workwear
- Chest-left — the safest, cheapest and most visible in a line-up.
- Sleeve — shows even under a hi-vis vest, adds a small per-unit cost.
- Back — the biggest face but the most expensive to cover.
- Collar — subtle, premium, and only works on smooth-neck styles.
What to avoid
On shirts, avoid printing over seams, pockets and reflective bands. A logo that wraps a seam will crack; a logo over a pocket creases.
Start with the right face
- Asquith & Fox Men’s cotton long sleeve Oxford shirt from £29.50
- Build Your Brand Checked flannel shirt from £29.00
- Build Your Brand Denim shirt from £33.00
- Craghoppers Expert Kiwi short-sleeved shirt from £31.50
The budget rule
Chest-left on a single colour is the value play. Add sleeve or back only when the brand needs the visibility — every position adds cost, not value.
